Hammersmith vision

Context Office is working for the Hammersmith Business Improvement District developing a public realm vision for the area. This part of London has large office buildings, schools, hotels, music venues, shops and restaurants. It is also a busy transport interchange. We have focussed on key pedestrian routes which are currently dominated by traffic, a bus station and the A4 fly-over. Through site analysis and engagement with stakeholders we have developed ambitious but pragmatic ideas for greening the main roads, improving access, lighting, signage, art and other enhancements.

We worked to build consensus around incremental, achievable changes for the ‘in between’ spaces used by thousands of people every day. Our ideas have been positively received by the leader of Hammersmith and Fulham Council, officers, Transport for London and local businesses. We are coordinating with TfL, economy, highways and public realm teams along with the BID to progress next steps and actions, to deliver more change in the years ahead.
